WORDS LETTERS & MONEY

You write. You think. You attempt to engage. In front of you is a flicker. A screen pulses. You type away. You hope letters form words. The words desperately search for insightful sentences. The sentences are supposed to make a paragraph. That paragraph should tell a story. You don’t think your content is bad. Most people compliment it. If it’s good…why in the world aren’t you making any money?

The old ways of thinking are…old.

Technology made this world a better place. There’s no question about that.

I agree.

My ability to connect to people is easier than it has been for any generation before me. The catch? Everyone has the same connection.

It’s easy to get drowned out. We are all water droplets with free passage to the ocean. The ocean is vast. So much so no one can tell a water drop apart. It’s like we froze in place. We might as well be snow. Every snowflake is unique. We are all individuals. It’s impossible to individually pay attention to any one snowflake.

There is blizzard roaring. You’re just one flake in an ocean of a frozen storm.

WE CRAVE REAL CONNECTION

There is this myth. Someone fooled you into believing you need a million followers. Another person misled you into belief you’re nothing without thousands of copies sold.

Everyone has perception. Few have sight. Most cannot see what is in front of them.

A good friend of mine has over 100,000 followers on Instagram. The attention he receives for his fitness is absurd. His engagement is high. Despite this fact he works a construction job to make ends meet.

My Instagram following has about 235 followers. He does not even earn a tenth of what I do.

This is the difference between sight and perception. Objectively I am leagues away from him. Perceptively he looks to be doing better than me.

People believe what they believe. No one can change this. This is true. People once believed the Earth was sitting on top of a giant turtle. Doesn’t mean that’s true. It is true to them though.

We want a real connection. 235 solid connections are worth nearly 15 times more than 100,000 fly by night followers.

Real connections pay. Arbitrary followers don’t.

WRITTEN WORD IS VALUABLE IF IT IS ACTIONABLE

My words earn money. Despite the nominal medium pay scales. The reason? These words are tangible. Many sell dreams, hopes and run on sentences.

I do neither. Value is what others perceive. Worth is intrinsic. These letters contain intrinsic worth. They are valuable. What I write about I practice. It is that simple. There is nothing dis-ingenuine about my delivery.

I exaggerate. Sure. There is entertainment at the heart of every article. I sensationalize. Of course. Nothing like some drama over coffee.

But

At the core of everything. There is a message. Something to help you. I do not write for me. I write for you. There is something in my words. These words form sentences to lead you forward. The platform of my paragraphs is designed to support you. You need to stand on firm ground. The chapters which come from my novel story teach you.

How do I know? I’ve done much business and hustle with people who read my articles. Most religiously read them. They read them now. They are earning money. Today. Not yesterday. Today. The real question remains.

If you are writing…why aren’t you making money? Maybe it’s because you’re not making anyone else money. Write for others. Others will write a check for you. Make sense? I hope it does.
